Hopefully you’ve read a bit about CrossFit now, and you’ll be wondering “What does that mean I’ll be doing in classes?”
The best way to find out is to come and give it a try.
But, for those who still want to know more before they try, here’s some more information about the classes themselves:
We use Weight Training (Squats, Deadlifts, Olympic Lifts etc.), Bodyweight exercises (Press Ups, Pull Ups etc), Gymnastics and Aerobic exercises (Skipping, Rowing, Running etc.). Some days you’ll be doing Strength work (low reps, higher weights), others you’ll be doing Met-Cons (high intensity circuit style workouts done against the clock, with lower weights and higher reps), others you might do a longer run/row, do some boxing padwork or practise a gymnastics move. Many days you’ll be doing a combination of the above.
When you come to class, the Workout Of the Day (WOD) will be on the board and this will tell you what you’ve got in store that day. You can see recent workouts by browsing the WOD page, top right on the menu bar (much of this will probably not mean much to you at the moment though, unless you’ve done many of the exercises before).
You’ll record your results in your Training Journal and at some point in the future will repeat some of the WODs and be able to track your improvements.
